NOVEMBER BOOK: Goodnight, Anne

Illustrated by Geneviève Godbout

about the book

This sweet and heartfelt picture book conveys the essence of the best-selling Anne of Green Gables: loving everything and everyone around you.

Anne is cherishing life in Green Gables, the dearest and most beautiful place in the world.

Every night before she goes to bed, she thinks of all the people and places she loves: her family, her best friend Diana, her beautiful teacher Miss Stacy, the beloved Snow Queen tree, the Lake of Shining Waters, and the brilliant sky above. Anne even wishes goodnight - or good riddance - to annoying classmate Gilbert and nosy neighbor Mrs. Lynde.

about the illustrator

Geneviève Godbout is a freelance illustrator specializing in children's books. She now lives in Montréal, after many years spent in London as a Winnie the Pooh character designer for the Walt Disney Company.

Her distinctive style in soft pastels and colored pencils conveys nostalgia of another era. And her pencil strokes shape volumes and shadows without being too overwhelming.

I find her work really refreshing and welcoming due to its gentle nature, which brings back childhood memories when I look at her drawings.
